2006 was a very good year in Rioja. A hot summer
was followed by a very wet September. Harvest was delayed until mid-October
ensuring optimum ripeness of fruit. The grapes were hand-harvested.
Fermentation in stainless steel at a controlled temperture of 26 celsius.
The wine underwent Malolactic fermentation and was aged 4 months in
American Oak and 4 months in French Oak prior to release.
Known primarily for its reds Rioja is one of the five best-known and
most prestigious wine-producing regions of the world. The Rioja’s
principal soils are ideal for quality viticulture; they are well balanced
in structure (sand, limestone and clays), slightly alkaline, low in
organic matter and have a moderate supply of water in the summer.
